As an individual that has hearing loss for most of my adult life I consider myself an authority on TV listening devices. This is the 4th type that I have used over the last 35 years, with the best being Recoton (which I can't get any more).
1) Take your time getting the connections right. It took me 3 days and different connections to get it right so I could have quality sound.
2) It does not have the range or clarity of the Recoton, but it's not bad. About the only time I care about range is when I get up and go get a drink.
3) I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to turn it up loud enough (I've had trouble with this in the past), but this has more than enough volume.
I could not watch TV enjoyably without one of these.
