I just purchased FreedomAlert Emergency Alerting Device online. Since I have not received unit, I am reviewing on the description and compared to the my current unit that is no longer working. Replaceable batteries is excellent. My old unit necklace did not have replaceable batteries, they no longer make the unit, unable to replace just the necklace. Used for three years, very worth the purchase. I have saved money without a contract/monthly charges. My mother needs assistance most of the time, not an emergency. Example if she drops her pick up stick or spills her drink. Don't bother 911. Old unit would not pick up over 50 feet. This unit seems to have a better distance for walking outside. Old unit had fall detection., Turns out it was not helpful. If the old necklace was worn in the wrong position it will go off. My elderly person did not know how to "lay right" so unit will not go off. My mom hung it on her walker. Not good but what else could we do. This new unit does not have fall detections. You may feel you need it, but use another device for that. The one time my mother passed out and needed us. she was wearing her necklace sitting up, some what. It was not a fall, so it did not go off. No device is 100%. so I use more than one device.
